My wife and I purchased these silicone skins to protect our new iPhones. They are pretty thick - so no question they'd probably protect it from a traumatic event. One of the skins we received was slightly defective around the lower lip - so I suspect it might rip there in the not-too-distant future.

Like other reviewers said, this case doesn't really fit the iPhone. I have the 3G and it is really loose on it. I'm not really that comfortable with having this case as the only protection for my phone and I honestly think that if I were to drop it, the case may come off with the impact of the drop. But, it was cheap so if you're not clumsy, it might work for you.
